Head of land mafia arrested in Haryana

Rohtak : In a special campaign against the land mafia, Haryana police has succeed in arresting a head of land mafia namely Ramesh Lohar, a resident of Bohar village in district Rohtak and eight members of the gang and a case has been registered against under section 447, 147, 149, 384 and 506 of IPC.

While giving this information Tuesday, a spokesman of Police Department said that a special team constituted by Inspector General of police, Rohtak Range V. Kamaraja arrested eight members of this gang two days back when they had gone to take illegal possession of a plot at Ekta Colony in Rohtak. Those arrested included Mehar Singh alias Soni of village Sunariyan, Sunil and Bijender both residents of village Dighal in district Jhajjar, Amit of village Rabad, Amit of village Rabhda, Ajit of village Ladot in district Jhajjar, Sumit Sharma a resident of village Girawad in district Sonepat, Navin of Shrinagar Colony and Sunny a resident of Janata Colony.

The spokesman said that during the interrogation they revealed that Ramesh was the leader of their gang who had demanded a sum of Rs. 9 lakh from the plot owner in lieu of vacating their possession of the plot. Ramesh had sent all of them to Ekta Colony to encroach upon the plot. He said that raids were being conducted by the police at their possible hideouts to nab the other accomplices of Ramesh Lohar Gang and they would be arrested soon.

He said that V. Kamaraja had issued a stern warning to the property dealers that in case he received a complaint against any of them about illegally taking possession of a plot or piece of plot, stern action would be taken against them. He also urged the people to immediately inform the police if anyone occupied or try to occupy their land and plot illegally. The name of the complainant would be kept secret, he added.
