Sting operation of police stations carried out

With a view to finding out that how serious Haryana Police officials are towards their duties and how they behave with complainants who come to police posts/stations to get their complaint lodged, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Rohtak Range, V. Kamaraja has started to get a special sting operation carried out of police posts/stations located in five districts- Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonepat, Panipat and Karnal- fall under the jurisdiction of the range.
Interestingly, those police officials are being placed under suspension with immediate effect, who are found “guilty” of dereliction of duty during the operation while those behaving well with complainants and taking swift action on the complaint are being rewarded with cash prizes.
“Under the sting operation, policemen in civil dress were sent to the police posts/ stations as fake complainants with false complaints of theft of motorcycles, cars,cash snatching and pick pocketing. The complaint not only observed the functioning of the cops posted there but also analyzed their behavior, way of talking and determination in sorting out the complaints there,” said the IGP, V. Kamaraja, adding that five police parties were constituted to carry out the operation simultaneously in the five districts come under the Rohtak Range.
He informed the operation had been carried out in 32 police posts/ stations of the five districts within last two days. During the operation, as many as 13 policemen behaved politely with complainant and took full interest in sorting out their grievances while three policemen were trapped in the operation who not only misbehaved with complaints but also categorically denied to lodge their complaints.
“The erring policemen identified as Rohtas of Civil Line Police Station in Rohtak, Sandeep of Kharkhoda police Station in Sonepat and Surender Singh of Chandni Baag police station in Panipat have been placed under suspension,” said the IGP, adding that department inquires had also been ordered against them. The IGP informed though 15 cops gave a good response to complainants by behaving like a gentleman but did not show curiosity in lodging an FIR on their complaints.
These cops were left unpunished this time after being issued warning that stringent official action would be taken against them if they failed to register complaints of the complainants. “Under the drive, those 13 policemen have been rewarded with case prizes for performing their duty in well manner during the sting operation include Krishan of Ghiloud Police Post, Gyan Singh of Urban Estate Police Station, Jagdish of City Police Station, Vidyanand of Indira Colony Police post, Dilbagh of Lakhan Majro Police Station, Dalel Singh of Kharawar police post and Ramphal of Bus Stand police post in Rohtak district, Ramesh Chander of City Police Station Bahadurgarh, Ram Niwas of Line Paar Police Station Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district, Subhash of Mundlana police post, Dharmvir of Sadar Police Station and Rana Pratap of Sector 6, 7 police post in Panipat and Azad Singh of Jharothi Police Post in Sonepat,” said V. Kamaraja.
The IGP maintained motive behind the move was to teach a lesson to erring policemen besides motivating those as well who were performing their duties with dedication and devotion.
