Devender Dangi
Rohtak, May 30
Jan Jagriti Sandesh Yatra of Haryana Viklang Kalyan Sangh began from here on Sunday to motivate common men for rooting out social evils. The yatra was flagged off by local congress MLA, B.B. Batra, at local Jind bypass here.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Batra said instead of becoming a character of sympathy for the people, physically challenged persons must set an example for the society by toiling hard with dedication to grab success so that common men not only follow their spirit but also contribute their bit to social welfare as well.
“When a disabled person achieves success at any stage, he/she gives a massage to the entire society that disability is not a curse and disabled people are also fully capable to do all that things which a healthy person can,” said Batra, adding that Bhupindra Singh Hooda led state government had taken various steps for the welfare of disabled people.
Not only monthly pension for more than 70 percent of people with disabilities had been increased from Rs 300 to 500 but also free travel facilities in Haryana Roadways buses was also being provided for 100 per cent disabled by the state government, maintained the MLA.
Batra informed that the state government had been mulling over a demand being raised by disabled people of providing land free of cost for the rehabilitation and training for the physically challenged in Rohtak and it was likely to be implemented soon by making a state level policy in this regard.
On this occasion, the MLA also distributed sewing machine to economically weaker disabled women and assured the Viklang Sangh to apprise Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Minister for Health Geeta Bhukkal of their demands. Earlier, the Viklang Sangh president, Randhir Singh Rana, founder general secretary, Naresh Kumar Khatri and president of Women's Wing Dr. Sunita Malhan submitted a memorandum of their demands to the MLA and expressed their gratitude to him for reaching the grievances of physically challenged persons to the chief minister.
